NAPLAN update
A recent meeting held by the Education Council sees the following announcements regarding Naplan online:
• Federal, state and territory education ministers have recently agreed that all schools will gradually transition from the current paper-based NAPLAN tests to assessments conducted online.
• The key aim of moving NAPLAN online has been creating a simpler and more efficient experience for schools and students.
• The Education Council has agreed to extend the current transition timeline by one year. This means that all schools will undertake NAPLAN tests online from 2021.
• Changes to the NAPLAN Online technical infrastructure will prevent a repeat of the connectivity problem that caused the disruptions will be fully implemented prior to NAPLAN 2020.
• ACARA and its implementation partners are working closely with each sector, aiming for a smoother experience for schools in 2020 and ensuring that schools are well prepared to manage any issues that could arise.
• No additional schools beyond those involved in the 2019 NAPLAN Online testing will be participating in NAPLAN Online in 2020.
